Abstract:
"This raster image data set presents color aerial photographs in an ortho-rectified format. The imagery was acquired April 1st and April 10 of 2006 and covers the greater St. Louis, MO metropolitan area. The digital orthoimagery was created from scanned aerial photography, survey control, aerial triangulation, and a digital terrain model. Mapping accuracy meets American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) Class 1 Map Accuracy Standards for Orthophoto Maps 200 foot scale for the project area. The spacial coordinate system is NAD83, Missouri State Plane, East, FIPS 2401, US Feet."

Process_Description:
The production of ortho-rectification of aerial photography required three components: the unrectified raw images produced from direct film scanning the original color negatives, camera calibration report, aerial triangulation calculations, and existing Digital Terrain Model (DTM) that was updated to reflect changes and/or new project areas. Rectification is accomplished by registering each digital image orientation to the ground. Breaklines and mass points, created from photogrammetric methods, was used to establish an accurate DTM to represent the earth surface. Ortho image rectification software was used attain imagery corrected for relief displacement, and to assemble individual images into a larger mosaic. The rectified imagery was enhanced for optimum brightness, contrast, and sharpness. Final imagery was examined for quality and accuracy through visual verification against source vector and surveyed control points.
